Thomas Harper, Hirings Team Leader at award-winning Hylands House, Essex, gives us a glimpse of how to make your wedding just right on trend and have a picture-perfect memory for years to come.

It’s about all things beautiful, colourful and golden for 2017 with décor trends around gardens, melt your heart romance and zestful festivals.  Vintage remains, plus there are rustic touches, gold accents and look out for jaw-dropping impact with oceans of lights and drapes.

Romance

It’s the most romantic day of your life so ensure your venue is draped in romance. Choose a beautiful venue with lots of charming settings with grand chandeliers, decorated hallways and sweeping staircases.  Have lots of flowers everywhere

Rustic

Choose a venue that you can really stamp your mark on. Have a theme that allows you to go as wild and bold as you can. Our Pavilion is a blank canvas so you could dress it with branches and nature-inspired décor to bring the outdoors inside.  Add lots of colourful paper lanterns or bunting to brighten up the room and give a fun element.

Vintage
The vintage wedding trend is still going strong. Add old-world items and antiques to your big day. Use lots of things that mean something to you, teacups and tablecloths etc. that have been in the family for years.  Use vintage cars or a coach and horses could deliver you to and from the wedding ceremony.

Gardens

Add floral touches throughout your venue. You could erect flower arches at entrances to reception spaces, throw flower petals on the tables and use exotic plants for centrepieces.  Decorate terraces with plants or have a venue that is surrounded with parkland and gardens.

Impact

That jaw-dropping impact on entering a wedding venue is significant for 2017.  Either select a venue that achieves this by being spectacular in its own right or chose one that you can decorate yourself.  Try fabulously dressed ceilings with lots of flowing fabrics and lights and astonishingly lit centrepieces

Festivals

Go boh-ho chic with lots of mismatched bright colours, various colour tablecloths and flower garlands decorating the room.

Gold

Gold accents are a huge trend.  Have gold vases on the table, gold LED candle holders, etc.  At Hylands our stunning Banqueting Room is decorated with 24 carat gold leaf swag and scroll decorations – it couldn’t be more on trend or more romantic.
