Amazon Prime Video’s latest original, Paatal Lok, has been getting rave reviews from critics and audience alike. Now co-producer Anushka Sharma, has hinted at a possibility of season 2.
“You have to wait and watch to know more about season two. Right now, I don’t want to divulge too much but let’s just say it’s quite possible. It is too early to talk about it but if Amazon is willing to do it, definitely there will be a second season,”

Tipped by many as the best crime thriller to originate from India, the unsettling 9-part Amazon Original crime-drama ‘Paatal Lok‘ follows the story of an honest cop, Inspector Hathi Ram Chaudhary, investigating an assassination attempt on a well-known journalist. Four suspects are nabbed in the assassination attempt of a well-known journalist. The case turns out to be a devious maze where nothing is what it seems on the surface. This, in turn, leads Chaudhary down a treacherous path straight into the dangerous alleys of the netherworld – Paatal Lok.
The show which premiered today, has been praised by critics and personalities alike, with a consistent review rating between 4-5 stars:

Scroll described the thrilling show a ‘halfway tour through hell’ while praising Jaideep Ahlawat’s performance as one of his most ‘richest and layered.’
NDTV rated the series 4 out of 5 stars and describes Paatal Lok as perfectly narrating a story in which ‘evil battles greater evil.’
Anupama Chopra of Film Companion applauded the ‘skillful thriller’ as the directors ‘locate that threat of absurdity in the rampant consumerism of contemporary India.’
The series has also been lauded on social media, with India Today sharing Paatal Lok’s legion of fans expressing their admiration for the show: One user’s tweet, read:
